Advertising "Genius" - Hair Transplants

Sometimes I wonder about the marketing divisions of some companies. Their advertisements don't make sense. For instance, I heard an advertisement on the radio for hair transplants for men. One of the claims that this company made was that their procedure produced "natural and undetectable results."

Wait a minute. Wouldn't you want people to detect that you have had hair transplant surgery? Imagine spending $2,500 (the minimum charge) to put someone else's hairs into your scalp only to realize when you woke up that the results were undetectable! I think this company should use some of their profits (at the rate of $1/hair they have to be high) to hire a new marketing manager.

View the company's website (and their outrageous claim) here.

You may very well know this but if you have never seen a hair transplant done poorly, let me tell you as someone who has, you do want them to be undetectable...as in you don't want it to LOOK LIKE you just had a hair transplant. When done badly it looks just like it does on one of my old baby dolls heads with rows of hair sticking out very uniformly. Just not an attractive look! If you ever see a bad one, you'll know right away...quite awful.

Not sure I explained that right...what I'm trying to say is...those who have had hair transplants want a full head of hair, but they don't want it to look like they HAD a hair transplant as it looks like someone literally took a needle and sewed tufts of hair into your head (which is basically what they do). The whole idea is to look like you have a full head of hair that has always been there...instead of your hair screaming to the world - THIS HAS BEEN PUT HERE SURGICALLY!

Speaking of the whole subject - it's also pretty rare for a hairpiece or toupee (sp?) on a man not to be extremely obvious and they generally look horrible. Either they don't match the color, or they look completely odd and unatural. I can usually spot them immediately. Bald looks much better than a bad hairpiece men. Embrace your baldness! "-)
